Shaws has another promo where if you spend $20 you get back $5. I like these promos....they work out pretty good if you can use coupons on the items.
Today I got:
2 25 count ziploc bags $5
1 12 doubleroll Scotts toilet paper $6.99
1 45 count Hefty trash bags $5.99
1 20 count freezer bag $2.50
total....20.50
_$5.00 (I had a coupon for $1 off each item I purchased)
_$5.00 promo for spending $20
so I paid $10.50 total for everything plus tax

So I have to drive 20 minutes to get to the closest A & P however sometimes it is worth it. However it is quite frustrating when they are out of one of there promo items. Zip loc had a good promo and they were out. I did get a few good buys though.

buy 1 doritos at 3.99 get 2 free (coupon was in the flyer they sent out not in the store)
makes them 1.33 a piece...good deal

perdue thin sliced chix is 2.89 a lb compared to usually 5.99lb, I stocked up and bought 4 packages.

Hamburger 80/20 1.68lb.....great deal....stocked up

I would have bought the ziplocs but they were out so Ill have to go to shaws who also has a similar promo....I'll keep you posted.

2 colgate toothpates....on sale for a dollar used 2 dollar off coupons.

I will never pay for certain items in my life again, these are two great examples. It all adds up in the end!

Shaws has a great promotion this week that I would suggest you check out. Buy $25 worth of participating Kraft products and get $5 back with a print out coupon good on your next purchase and get a $20 mail in rebate which also prints out with your receipt. I used $8 dollars worth of coupons so I actually profited with this promo. (this is the way I like it)

I got:
2 Digiorno pizzas
2 6 pack jellos
4 kraft mac n cheeses
4 velvetta microwavable mac n cheese
1 8 pack capri sun
and I made $8.....pretty good

I also in a seperate transaction got 2 free colgates with 2 coupons for $1 off

Just remember you have to take the time to mail in the rebate or it isn't a great deal!

CVS has blink eyedrops for 7.99 and you get 7.99 back in extra bucks, however if you have the $3.00 off coupon which was in the paper then you just profited $3.oo. This happens more often than you would think.

I had to stock up because this shaws deal is amazing. Today I got 4 All detergents, 2 hellmans. 6 knorr side dishes, and 3 suave kids shampoos for 10 dollars. This is there buy $30 of participating produts and get $15 back. I also used $6.00 worth of coupons to get my total down. This week was a great week at shaws and next week they are running a rebate sale where you can get $25 worth of groceries free. Check out the flyer online.

I did have to combine coupons to get such a great deal but even without any coupons this is a GREAT buy! There are 24 items there which translates to less than a dollar a pieace! Actually it is .79 cents an item!

Rebates

So I have mentioned I love the drugstores because you can always get something for free at CVS and Rite Aide. So Rite has alot of deals with mail in rebates I realized. Im not sure how I feel about this.Yes it will make certain things free ....for example on their flyer cover today there are 8 different free items that require a mail in rebate, two thing are light bulbs and toothpaste...we all need both. I guess if you are disciplined to do the leg work for the mail in rebate it is worth it however if you dont then you didnt get a bargain. I guess I prefer CVS extra bucks....just easier! Tell me your thoughts.

that this blog is for beginners who have never tried to use coupons, or tried and thought boy this is a pain. I was you and I am now using regularly and will never stop. It takes a little time and organization but it will pay off big in the long run. I try to keep everything on this blog simple and limit the amount of information because I find on other sites there is so much info it overwhelms me and I check out. I hope this can help and inspire those that arent using coupons to give it a try. It does take time to build up your coupons....ask friends and neighbors to save theirs for you as well. Good Luck!

Today I got 3 tubes of colgate and a box of 10 tampons free. 1 Colgate and the tampons came from CVS. I needed to use a dollar off coupon to get the colgate free. The other two colgates I got at A&P, again I had to use two coupons to get it free. If you asked me 6 months ago I would have said the only people getting things free are those savvy women who cut coupons all day long. I have come to find this is not true. Yes it does take some extra time and planning but it isnt difficult to find free items. It still amazes me when I get something I didnt pay for. If I didnt pay for toothpaste the rest of my life I wonder what that would translate to in dollars.

When you know you are getting a great buy on something you MUST stock up. So many times I have kicked myself when I knew I was getting a great buy and I didnt buy as many as I could fit in the cupboard. Buy as many as you can afford to if it is something you know you use regularly because bottom line is that it will end needing it eventually and it will kill you to pay full price after getting it cheaper. Trust me I hate paying full price for the things I know I can get for less...it is downright painfull.

I really look forward to Sundays because this is when the drugstores change their sales. I cant stress enough how many deals there are at CVS, Rite Aid, and whatever drugstore is in your community Im sure has the same type of promos. I will be visiting Cvs tomorrow to get my Colgate for free. The sale plus a coupon will make it free. Garnier shampoo for a dollar. (sale plus a coupon)Deoderant for a dollar. Computer paper is 2 for $5...which is a good buy. There are also many free things. Check out the flyer or go to couponmom.com to view the sales at CVS and the other drug stores. I will try to post tomorrow how I do. How much I spent and what I got. It is addictive to save money and get great buys.

So I was contacted by Gary at http://couponchief.com who asked me to check out his website. This is a great online coupon site. For anyone who does alot of online shopping this is great site to keep in your favorites. Basically it will give you the online codes at many different stores to get you an extra discount or free shipping. They also have a program called pays to share, where you list a coupon and everytime someone uses it you get paid 2% of the sale. (pretty cool) Well I like it and it is a very user friendly site. 2 thumbs up!

Transfering prescriptions for cash

Today I transfered two prescriptions from rite aid to cvs. I got $25 for each transfer for a total of $50 and it took about 5 minutes. I know it may sound like a pain in the butt, however it really is worth the little time it takes and CVS does give extra bucks for every prescription you fill so I think it was a win win. I have also done this in the past and transfered to Rite Aid because they offered the same deal so I think it is worth transfering to whom is offering it at the time. It truly is easy and doesnt take much to give your insurance info. Its these little things that add up!

Dont buy it just because you have a coupon!

I cant stress this enough....You are not getting a great buy if you are buying something you dont really want or use. People get caught up in buying something because they had a coupon and they lose site of why they were using coupons in the first place. Buy something with a coupon because you use it and because with the coupon it will become a good deal. If you can get a generic brand cheaper than a name brand with a coupon and the generic brand is as good than forget the coupon and buy the generic brand. We are trying to spend less money, dont lose site of the objective!

Shaws has certain General Mills cereals on sale 4 for $10, and then in their flyer they have a coupon for $4 off making it 4 boxes for $6. They also have in there flyer a coupon for $3 off a purchase of $10 bringing it to $3 for 4 boxes. I had a $1 coupon off 3 boxes of cereal bringing the final price to $2 for 4 boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch 12 oz size. (my kids love these so it wasnt buying because it is on sale) I ended up paying 50 cents a box which is an awesome buy. Even without the dollar coupon I had it was a good deal and that was just using there flyer which everyone can grab at the door. The best part was at checkout I got a printable coupon for $2 off the same cereal so now I can go back and get 4 boxes of cereal for $1 making them 25 cents a box. Go and stock up ladies.

Lets just call this the mother of all coupon sites. (no pun intended) This site does all the work for you....really!There is alot of information on this site and I think it can be a bit overwhelming so I will tell you what I think is the most important feature. Grocery deals by state will really help you find the best sales and coupons that are out for a certain item.So lets say you go to CVS because you have one in your state,it will show you all there sales for the week in a line by line fashion. It wil aso show you if a coupon has come out for a certain item which is on sale ad what the final price will be and what % you will save. If it sounds confusing it isnt just familiarize yourself with the site and all it has to offer. This is the site that got me hooked on cutting coupons because se mde it so easy.

Being Organized

The fact is that using coupons takes extra time and you need to be somewhat organized. You need to have your coupons organized so you know where they are when you need a certain one. I use small photo books which I got at Walmart for 99 cents to keep my coupons organized and that way I can flipthrough and see them easily. I use three. One is for food. One is for heath and beauty and paper products(basically anything not food) And the third is for possible purchases if I get a good sale. (like cookies or ice cream for the kids which I wouldnt buy unless I could get for next to nothing)Also if you are shopping different stores you ned to be organized to know what sale you are hitting at each one. Lists are a musts unless you have a super memory, (which I do not!)

Buy one get one free also known as BOGO happens to be one of the best sales going when you add in the coupons. The catch is you must have two coupons to maximize the savings.For example Whisk happens to be my favorite laundry detergent and full retail is about 6.79. (if you have never tried it give it a shot it makes your clothes smell so clean.)Sometimes you will see it on sale buy one get one free. (this is the 32 loads size Im talking about) This means you would be getting two whisks for 6.79 which would make them 3.40 a piece. Now if you had two 1.00 off coupons you could use they would be 2.40 a piece. This would be a great deal and lets face it....we all need to buy laundry detergent.I caution you to make sure you know the retail on the product because it will vary from store to store. If that whisk retails for 8.00 at a different store it may not be such a great deal. Make sense?

Why you must get the Sunday paper

You must buy a Sunday Paper because this is where the coupons are. Some people will tell you to buy more than one so you will have duplicates however I will tell you what I do. Ask your fiends or family who get the paper to save them for you if they are not clipping for themselves. I just dont want to spend the extra money on Sunday papers.Second reason to get the Sunday papers is because this is when the drug store flyers come out and you will come to find there are some true finds at the drug stores.Try to get your paper delivered on Sundays only if you dont want it every day, that way you wont forget and kick yourself on Monday.

Imagine if you never paid more than fifty cents for a deodorant again.Or more than fifty cents for dish detergent.How about never paying more than fifty cents for a bar of soap or a roll of toilet paper.Toothpaste for fifty cents? Ok so I am not your average coupon cutter but I guess in todays world there are many more people cutting coupons than there used to be. I always thought cutting coupons just ecouraged me to buy things I didnt want. (which does happen if you arent careful) I was never the type of person that didnt look at prices, I would try to buy the store brand to save money or hit things on sale but that was as far as I went. I would just say I need it so I have to pay the price. When I look back now on the years of wastefull spending it sickens me to think of how the money I could have saved could be earning me interest in a bank right now. After I lost my job and I really needed to start watching my spending I decided I would give it a try which is when I found the site http://couponmom.com and she made it so simple that it finally clicked. I am hoping I can simplify her site even more because it is a bit overwhelming because it has so much info on it.
When you realize how much money can be saved and how those savings add up it is hard to go back to paying full price on anything.
